Children suffering from depression and/or anxiety may exhibit the following:
- Difficulty establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
- Slow speech with decreased liveliness
- Negative verbal content
- Reduced animation
- Less eye contact
- Reduced motivation to socialize
- Reduced confidence in social abilities
- Peer rejection
- Perceiving parents as overly controlling, uninvolved, and/or lacking affection
- Selective mutism
- dysfluent speech
- low volume
