Depression / Anxiety

Children suffering from depression and/or anxiety may exhibit the following:

  • Difficulty establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
  • Slow speech with decreased liveliness
  • Negative verbal content
  • Reduced animation
  • Less eye contact
  • Reduced motivation to socialize
  • Reduced confidence in social abilities
  • Peer rejection
  • Perceiving parents as overly controlling, uninvolved, and/or lacking affection
  • Selective mutism
  • dysfluent speech
  • low volume
